Who is responsible
The website clip-search.com and the ClipSearch app are a non-commercial project with no ads or paid features. For any questions about data, email [email protected].
In short
- We don't use cookies, ads, analytics or visitor counters.
- We don't sell data or share it for advertising.
- No account is needed: we don't collect names, passwords or payment details.
Hosting and our server
The website and the api.clip-search.com server run on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). Like any host, it processes technical data with each request: IP address, time, page address and browser details. This is needed to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks.
Our server receives what you search for (streamer name, clip or video link, search options) and forwards the request to Twitch. The IP address is only kept in the server's memory to limit overly frequent requests and is forgotten shortly after. We don't keep logs with IP addresses. Cloudflare participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Twitch
Clips and videos come from Twitch. When you watch a clip or see a thumbnail, your browser loads it directly from Twitch's servers (Twitch Interactive, Inc., USA), and Twitch receives your IP address. Clip and video downloads go through our server. How Twitch handles data is described in the Twitch privacy notice.
What is stored in your browser
The site remembers in browser storage (localStorage) the last name you entered, the chosen search mode, and that you closed the language hint. This data isn't sent anywhere; you can remove it by clearing the site's data in your browser. To download videos the site uses a browser helper script (service worker) that only passes the file to your downloads.
Problem reports
If you send a report via “Report a problem”, we receive the report text, your contact (if you gave one), language, page and browser details or app version. In the app you can optionally attach the error log; folder paths in it are hidden beforehand. The report goes to the developer on Telegram (Telegram Messenger Inc.) and is kept as long as needed to fix the problem. You can ask for it to be deleted by email.
The ClipSearch app
The app runs on your computer. Searching, watching and downloading go through our server and Twitch, the same as on the site. The app checks for and downloads updates from GitHub (GitHub, Inc., USA). Settings, the download list and the error log are stored only on your computer.
Links to other services
Links to GitHub, Telegram and Twitch lead to those companies' sites, which have their own data rules. Installation files are downloaded from GitHub.
Legal bases and retention
Technical data is processed based on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Problem reports are processed because you sent them yourself (Art. 6(1)(a) and (f) GDPR). Data is kept no longer than needed for these purposes.
Your rights
You can ask what data we have about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict its processing or object to it. To do so, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
